From late 2019 to June of 2021 I was in charge of nearly all digital marketing initiatives for Shopify Plus. Accountabilities included implementation and optimization of always-on ads and time-boxed campaigns aimed at acquisition.

In June of 2021, a team was built to address the growing need for campaign creative. I am now one of three designers on the team.

It started as a way to promote ebooks

 

It turned into so much more

From ebooks, it grew to blog promotions, webinars, events, campaigns and everything in between. As demand continued to grow there was an increased need for standardized ads. The first step was to create a look and feel for different assets. Once this was complete I worked with an agency to develop fundamentals and core templates that could be used interchangeably across always-on campaigns.

 
 

The Results

In most cases, my work was the first touchpoint for many potential merchants. Shopify Plus grew from fewer than 5,000 merchants to over 10,000 between 2019 and the end of 2021. Acquisition ads played an integral role in this growth.
